More complete informations about this position opportunity please read the description below. Retina Institute of Virginia is seeking a full time Clinical Supervisor. We are a large, busy Ophthalmic practice looking for a self-starter, detail-oriented, and responsible individual with a positive attitude.

Purpose of Job: Oversees all aspects of the Clinical Department
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervises and directs the work of all technicians employed by the employer
Monitors and adjusts time sheets for all clinical staff on a daily basis
Plans and apportions work by creating weekly schedules for clinical staff in all locations
Identify and resolve issues with patient flow, including directing and correcting clinical staff to alleviate patient flow problems
Design training regimen and provide training for Ophthalmic Assistants and Scribes
Manage employee time off requests on a daily basis
Be readily available to work up, scribe, perform ancillary testing, prep patients for injections, assist physicians with injections and to ensure coverage in all areas of the clinic
Establish and oversee implementation of OSHA policies and procedures for the practice
Maintain open communication with other department supervisors by holding brief meetings to discuss any issues or concerns
Directly address and correct undesirable behavior of clinical staff as needed
Maintain skill evaluations for all clinical staff
Continue to implement and maintain standard operating procedures for all areas of the clinic
Prepare agenda and effectively communicate information to the staff for monthly staff meetings
Interview candidates for Ophthalmic Assistant and Scribe positions, regularly make recommendations for hiring to be approved by the Administrator and/or Physicians, with such recommendations being given particular weight by the employer
Performs annual staff reviews
In addition to the tasks listed above, the clinical supervisor will promptly and professionally perform the following duties listed below when needed:
Perform technical work ups, patient interviews, and special testing
Communicates with patients regarding follow-up care, surgeries, procedures, changes in schedule, symptoms, surgery scheduling, etc.
Returns phone calls to patients and pharmacies
E-prescribe
Assists in minor surgery
Maintains patient confidentiality
Efficiently and accurately interviews patients and documents histories
Refractions
Visual Acuity
Lensometry
Tonometry
Visual Fields
Amslers
Muscle Testing
Pupil Exams
Topography
Color Plates
Demonstrates working knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms and ocular meds
Has a working understanding of B-Scans, fundus photos, OCT and fluoroscein angiography
Utilizes proper eye drop technique and sterility
Understands and uses proper sterile technique
Utilizes proper universal precaution procedures
Understands characteristics of common posterior segment disorders
Understands and follows procedures for surgical and procedural consents
Displays consistent professionalism
Is energetic and empathetic with patients
Consistently display positive rapport with fellow co-workers and employees
Cooperates with Administrator and Physicians
Scribes readily when doctor desires
Demonstrates flexibility in job assignment
Demonstrates initiative in accomplishing practice goals
Maintains certification
Performs other duties as assigned
Regularly provide recommendations to employer relating to advancement, promotion, termination and other changes in employment status of technicians, with such recommendations being given particular weight by the employer
Oversee new hire orientation & training to ensure completion. If Hep B vaccine & PPD test are needed, ensuring the employee follows through on testing/vaccinations and series is completed
Oversee, maintain, and arrange all ophthalmic equipment repairs for the practice, to ensure they r remain in great working condition at all times, including all satellite offices
Maintain an open dialog with Physicians at all times to ensure your meeting patient & clinic needs
Oversee ordering and stocking of medical supplies for all offices
Arrange for yearly flu shots for all staff, including the physicians
Arrange for bi-annual CPR training for all staff, including the physicians
