Overview
Riverside Hampton Surgery Center in Hampton, Virginia is currently seeking a full-time Surgical Tech.
Job Summary: Works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse in the Operating Ro om and the Nurse Manager. Assists with the coordination of nursing care of the patient in the operating room and functions as a team member of the surgical team. Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of equipment instrumentation and supplies on the sterile field. Requires utilization of simple to complex equipment. Requires the cleaning and replenishment of equipment and supplies in order to maintain quality patient care. Participates in quality patient assurance in-service and customer service programs. Responsible for the handling and management of specimens and surgical counts. Assumes the role of expert for specific surgical service is responsible for monitoring the surgical schedule for equipment and supply needs prepares for daily case readiness supports the Specialty Nurse with the surgeon preference cards and for identifying communicating and educating service changes.
Riverside Hampton Surgery Center, a department of Riverside Regional Medical Center, is a 20,000 square foot ambulatory surgery center, located in the Riverside Healthcare Center in Hampton. The Riverside Hampton Surgery Center provides an ambulatory surgery option for area physicians. At the center in Hampton, surgeons perform ophthalmology, podiatry, ENT, gynecology, orthopedics and general surgery.
This facility is located in Hampton, Virginia on the Peninsula. With a population of 1.8 million people, it is the seventh-largest metropolitan area in the Southeast and the 32nd largest in the United States. The Virginia Peninsula is a diverse area made up of many neighboring cities with unique character and opportunities. The area is very unique with a large number of military bases and several large colleges and universities as well as other large healthcare systems. The attractions are endless with so many historical sites to visit and a long list of museums and theaters.
Qualifications
Educ ation: Graduate of an accredited surgical technician program or equivalent strongly preferred.
Experience: Prefer previous experience in surgical tech role.
Certification: CST certification preferred.
