Designated and/or Random Drug Teesting Required DUTIES:
The Martinsburg VAM! C is seeking a full time Physician in Primary Care Service at the Stephens City, VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) who will be working 0.6 of the time in Primary Care and 0.4 of the time working for Compensation and Pension (C&P). The incumbent will perform as a Primary Care Physician the following duties:

Evaluation and treatment of the following body systems: skin, eye, ear, nose, throat, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, urologic, reproductive, nervous, endocrine, musculoskeletal, and hematology.

Initial and ongoing assessment of patient's medical, physical, and psychosocial status

Obtaining and documenting a comprehensive medical and psychological history and physical examination.

Ordering appropriate diagnostic tests.

Reviewing and interpreting laboratory tests and taking appropriate action

Formulating and recording diagnostic impressions

Referring patients to consultations with speci! alty clinics

Providing medical advice to patients, families an! d community health providers by telephone

Managing chronic medical problems

Managing minor acute medical problems

Entering orders into CPRS for medications, consults, testing etc.

The incumbent will perform as a Compensation and Pension Physician the following duties:

Performing disability evaluations, which include review of medical records, obtaining history and physical examinations of the veterans and assimilation of lab and x-rays.

Uses computerized medical records (CPRS) to order all appropriate lab and x-ray tests.

Completion of medical reports which includes completing templates, dictating, editing and finalizing. These reports are provided to the Veterans Benefit Administration (VBA) for determinations of service-connected disability and benefits.

And other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : Candidates must meet all regulatory requirement! s for Physician per VA Handbook 5005, Part II, and Appendix G2, dated April 15, 2002 as listed below:

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Citizenship: Citizen of the United States.

Education . Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:

1 Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.

2 Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.

3 Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Col! umbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.

4 For ! residents, graduation from an approved medical school as described above is required except as provided in M-8, part II, chapter 1.

Licensure and Registration

1. Physicians (Except Residents). Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. The facility Director may waive this licensure requirement if the physician is to serve in a country other than the United States and the physician has licensure in that country.

2. Residents. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia before the second year of VA residency, or meet any licensure, registration or other equivalent requirement! s established for residents of non-VA hospitals with which the VA facility is affiliated for training purposes. The resident must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure

Requirements

A pre-placement physical examination is required.

A pre-employment background investigation is required.

English Language Proficiency . Physicians, including residents, appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).

Preferred Qualifications . Board Certification in Internal Medicine
