The Hunter Holmes McGuire Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Richmond, Virginia is seeking an academic therapeutic endoscopist to join the Medical Se rvice/Gastroenterology Section. The successful candidate should be Board Certified/Board Eligible(BC/BE), have strong expertise in clinical research and teaching, an advanced degree in epidemiology, training in advanced therapeutic endoscopy (ERCP, EUS,EMR,POEM, cryo-ablation, bariatric balloon, confocal endomicroscopy), expertise in motility (esophageal manometry, 24-h pH, Bravo,an d impedance), and expertise in capsule endoscopy. Candidate should be eligible for academic appointment at the Assistant/Associate level at the Medical College of Virginia of Virginia Commonwealth University.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Duties include, but not limited to:
- Performs Therapeutic Endoscopy, including ERCP, EUS, EMR, ESD, POEM, cryo-ablation, bariatric balloon, confocal endomicrospy
- Performs routine endoscopy (EGD and colonoscopy)
- Performs and reads capsule endoscopy
- Designs translational research projects and performs clinical research
- Evaluates and manages patients with motility disorders
- Attending Physician on GI Consult Service
- Attending Physician in the General GI Clinic weekly
- Attending Physician in the Advanced Endoscopy Clinic weekly
- Educates and trains GI Fellow Physicians
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
