One full-time Associate Chief of Staff of Geriatrics, Rehab and Extended Care is currently available at the Hampton VA Medical Center, Geriatrics, Rehab and Extended Care Service. The normal tour of duty is Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm. There may be some instances where the incumbent would be required to work after 4:30 p.m., or have the flexibility to work outside the normal tour of duty. Salary/Grade is determined by the Professional Standards Board based on education, qualifications, experience, and credentials. This announcement is open to all qualified US Citizens. Introduction

The Associate Chief of Staff of Geriatrics, Rehab and Extended Care (GREC) provides administrative, clinical, and programmatic leadership for the Medical CenterÂ's extended care programs to ensure achievement of quality healthcare and outcomes. The incumbent reports to the Chief of Staff and serves as a key clinical resource for the Medical Center Director and the Chief of Staff.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
a. Mainly clinical duties will be performed in the Community Living Center and other extended care programs as needed within delineated ap! proved privileges as assigned by the Chief of Staff

b. Partici! pates actively in delivering in-service training for medical center disciplines and services; in teaching of Geriatric Medicine Fellows, medical school residents and medical students; and, in supporting an environment that promotes academic excellence and encourages continual learning.

c. Participates in interdisciplinary team activities in Community Living Center and provides cross coverage to other programs as needed to achieve optimum interdepartmental cooperation to assure that quality patient care is maintained or improved.

d. Directs the continuous measurement and improvement of the quality of care provided by the service.

e. Plans, coordinates, and ensures high quality through utilization of multiple quality measurement tools.

f. Responsible for the financial management including budget planning and management for GREC.

g. Develops the annual strategic and budget plan for the GREC service consistent with guidance and goals! from the DirectorÂ's Office and/or Fiscal Service.

h. Develops and implements tracking methods to monitor the serviceÂ's fiscal activities.

i. Collaborates with other service chiefs in the development and execution of the overall Medical Center strategic and business plan.

j. Plans initiatives and develops programs in collaboration with other services in order to ensure coordination of service, reduction of redundancies, and enhancement of cost effectiveness.

k. Performs other directly related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
In accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G2:
Qualifications:
a. Citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).

b. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.

c. Current, full and u! nrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territo! ry, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

d. Must be board certified or meet qualifications for board eligibility.

e. Proficiency in spoken and written English is required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
