Salem VA Medical Center (SVAMC)is recruiting for two Hospitalists to join its experienced staff of physicians and health professionals in the Department of Medicine at the Medical Center. The Medical Center is currently accepting applications from interested candidates for both ICU and Ward Hospitalist positions.Salem VA Medical Center, located in the Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), is a 298-bed, Joint Commission accredited, complexity level 1C facility serving Veterans in southwestern Virginia.SVAMC provides primary care a! nd specialty care with a broad scope of available clinical ser! vices in areas of medicine, surgery, mental health, extended care and rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, and supportive and social services. Salem VA Medical Center is also a teaching hospital, maintaining three active medical school affiliations with the University of Virginia School of Medicine, the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. Required Skills:
Candidates must meet the following basic requirements for employment as a physician with the Department of Veterans Affairs:

  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Physicians appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Candidates must have completed a first-year residency, or its equivalent, in an approved residency program.
