The CV Data Specialist extracts specific data elements from the medical record according to predetermined data fields and sanctioned definitions for a ! specific patient population in support of the Sentara RMH Heart & Vascular Center quality program. Specific patient populations include CT Surgery and Vascular surgery/intervention. Specific duties include data abstraction, entry, validation and reporting, investigation of discrepancies, submission to internal/external required databases and registries, coordination of processes and data submission with Sentara system wide expectations for corporate scorecards, and assisting with education for CV physicians and staff as needed.
Minimum Education
BS degree required, with additional clinical training in the areas of cardiovascular nursing or similar equivalent training. Working knowledge of computer operation, medical terminology, Internet functions and Microsoft Office software.
Minimum Work Experience
Minimum three years cardiovascular clinical experience required, with minimum of one year of previous experience in similar position of dat! a abstraction and management within a hospital setting strongl! y preferred

Required Licenses
Must be licensed by the appropriate Virginia State Board department.
