Be a graduate of a Licensed Practical Nurse program approved by one of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, t! he Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Possess current, unrestricted license to practice as a LPN in any one of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Possess a minimum of 1 year of experience as a LPN within the last 2 years. Have obtained the minimum experience working in a based surgical setting of comparable size and complexity.
Possess and maintain at all times, current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS). The American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Course is the only program accepted.
Scheduling details:
LPNs shall provide services during day, evening, and night shifts that are from 8.5 to 12.5 hours in duration per day (to include an uncompensated .5 hour meal break). The inpatient units operate 24-hours per day, 7-days per week, 365 days per year.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Operate s! pecialized equipment, such as pulmonary artery line, central v! enous pressure line, peripheral arterial line, ventriculostomy, and cardiac monitors and have a working knowledge of the data output to recognize abnormal readings and take appropriate action.
Administer medications and treatments, such as inhalation therapy and chest physiotherapy, as prescribed by the physician.
Assist in the administration and monitoring of tube feedings, intravenous and hyperalimentation fluids, and monitor for complications of administration. Monitor epidural fluids and Patient Controlled Analgesia pumps, refer to Registered Nurse for any issues or concerns.
Care for patients on pressure and volume ventilators and for patients in isolation.
Liaison with other disciplines to plan care for patients according to their current physical requirements.
Complete NMCP provided in-services in IV placement, blood and blood administration prior to assignment to these tasks.
