Acclarent, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Market Development Specialist to cover the VA, MD, and Southern PA markets. Ideally candidates will reside in Northern VA.

Acclarent, Inc. is a medical device company in Menlo Park, CA that was established in June of 2004. The company is dedicated to the development of innovative devices providing new technologies to further meet the needs of ENT patients. Acclarent's initial focus is on achieving the goals of sinus surgery with novel, endoscopic, catheter-based tools - Balloon Sinuplasty™ devices. Through the Balloon Sinuplasty™ technology and our Relieva® product portfolio we offer ENT patients another option to conventional endoscopic surgical technologies. FDA clearances for these devices were completed in 2005 and the products were commercially launched in the US that same year.

Through our core technologies and commitment to i! nnovation, Acclarent will continue to advance novel devices in! all areas of ENT.

As a key member of the Sales team the Market Development Specialist will execute market development tactics to drive referrals to target surgeons as well as other specific designated activities that will help the sales region and company achieve their annual sales targets. This individual will report to the Area Market Development Manager, and work closely with Marketing and Medical Affairs in the planning and execution of related activities. The Market Development Specialist is primarily responsible for driving revenue by providing field level support to physicians and other clinical professionals who desire to utilize the Acclarentâ„¢ Products and services. This responsibility will require extensive travel and extended stays in field based territories. The Market Development Specialist will develop partnerships with surgeons and hospital administration to drive Acclarent technology awareness and direct to consumer education. The MDS will provid! e technical support in the O.R, in accordance with company policy. They will also in-service Medical staff on Acclarent technologies, organize and manage Referral Events, build relationships with customers and become skilled at selling the Acclarent Technologies.

The Market Development Specialist may function in an individual territory or in a POD (a group of territories that are geographically close). The individual will report to the National Market Development Manager.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, the candidates must meet the following criteria: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required as well as a minimum of 2 years of outside sales experience is required. At least 2 years of experience in medical device sales is strongly preferred, in addition to start up ! experience selling game changing technology. Preference will be given t! o candidates with 2+ years of experience selling to surgeons in an operating room environment, preferably with experience calling on ENT's. Candidates must have a valid driver's license issued in one of the 50 States and a clean driving record.

Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills, and must be a team player. The ability to work within a commission driven position with the ability to meet and exceed sales goals is required. Experience introducing market development programs to physician practices, in addition to having strong local relationships within the healthcare community in the specified geographic area is strongly preferred. Ability to travel as necessary up to 50-100%, which may include overnight and/or weekend travel is required.
