Description: Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters is currently interviewing Coder/Abstractor right now, this vacancy will be placed in Virginia. Under general supervision, the Inpatient Coder is responsible for the collection of relevant, pertinent, accurate and timely profile data configured and/or abstracted from all the hospital’s ! clinic, emergency and day surgery records. This includes effective use of relevant coding systems as well as recognizing what data can be abstracted, presented and interpreted for effective use throughout the hospital network. Reports to department management .
Experience, Education and Training Minimum : Knowledge of DRG’s. IB-92 guidelines, and ability to use various coding methodologies to code clinical diagnoses. Completion of an approved RHIA or RHIT curriculum and /or CCS certified plus one year of experience in a medical records department as an inpatient coder/abstractor is preferred. Applicant must possess knowledge of DRGs and APCs for reimbursement and statistical reporting. Coder/Abstractor will code and abstract all types of patient encounters completely and accurately utilizing ICD 9 diagnosis/procedure codes and CPT 4 procedure codes as indicated .
