ADMINISTRATIVE SECRETARY - DEPT OF SURGERY ADMINISTRATION

Description: Carilion Clinic is currently seeking to employ ADMINISTRATIVE SECRETARY - DEPT OF SURGERY ADMINISTRATION right now, this position will be placed in Virginia. Anticipates needs of mana! ger(s) and acts with initiative. Maintains confidential department records. Builds strong relationship across departments and acts as a liaison to other areas.
Communicates with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and visitors. Independently makes decisions and demonstrates sound judgment in the course of routing matters, working with minimal supervision. Maintains effective written and oral communications with a diverse population. Job is performed in a normal office environment.
High degree of urgency is required. Schedule is often interrupted and workload priorities changed. Requires ability to work across departments with team approach and may require cross-facility coverage. Operates a variety of office equipment.
Maintains a professional work environment and confidentiality in all matters. Handles difficult people and issues with tact and diplomacy. Minimum Qualifications Required: Education: Associate Degree or graduate of a post High! School secretarial or business program. Bachelors Degree pref! erred.
Experience: Five (5) years secretarial or related work experience required. Licensure, certification, and/or registration: CPR certification required. Professional Secretary Certification preferred. Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated customer service orientation.
Proven business writing skills with the ability to compose documents, including correspondence, agendas, minutes, reports, etc. Advanced computer skills in Microsoft software programs, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with knowledge of other database and/or presentation software. Excellent verbal, written communications and advanced organizational skills required. Excellent grammar skills required.
Candidate will be detail oriented and have excellent follow through on all work. Project management skills are required. Academic administrative skills preferred.
