POSITION SUMMARY : The Environmental Services Tech I p erforms Environmental Services duties and floor care per department policies and procedures, and in accordance with Infection Control. In addition to these duties, the Environmental Services Tech II also routinely cleans specialty areas and performs advanced floor care duties. All may have access to, or oversight of, Protected Health Information (PHI) in the course of carrying out position duties.

EXPECTED POSITION SPECIFIC JOB RESULTS:
A. Maintains all assigned patient rooms, ancillary areas and department areas in a clean, neat and
sanitary manner.
B. Cleans all assigned areas utilizing department procedures.
C. Cleans assigned carts and equipment daily; ensures all items are returned in an orderly manner
100% of the time.
D. Replenishes supplies such as:! paper towels, toilet tissue, soap, etc; requests supplies and
equipment as needed.
E. Routine collects waste; sanitizes all garbage cans on an ongoing basis.
F. Observes and follows Isolation Techniques in accordance with Infection Control Policy.
G. Cleans or sanitizes after emergency spills as requested.
H. Ensures a safe, clean, attractive environment for patients, staff and visitors at all times.

Demonstrates the minimum knowledge, skills and abilities to care for the individualized needs of the patient to include physical, psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual and cognitive needs as well as functional abilities including the need for diversified use of such practices.
I. Washes hands thoroughly throughout the day; follows and adheres to hospital policy.
J. Maintains all assigned patient rooms, ancillary areas, department areas, clinic areas and corridors
with the correct preventative maintenance procedures as outlined in dep! artment policy as
requested.
K. Washes walls with correct equip! ment as outlined in orientation guidelines.
L. Operates 12/24 oz. Wet floor mop, Mega Mop, wringers, Bovac, etc. per orientation guidelines.
M. Uses chemicals and solutions per department policy.
N. Keeps work area neat and tidy.
O. Follows appropriate protocol following patient discharges as observed by supervisor.
P. Thoroughly washes and sanitizes beds when patients are discharged; makes beds with clean linen
in the prescribed manner.
Q. Thoroughly cleans and sanitizes entire room and washroom when patients are discharged, utilizing established departmental guidelines and productivity measures.
R. Uses appropriate solutions in disinfecting rooms. Performs cleaning and refinishing functions in
all assigned areas and follows appropriate departmental policies and procedures as observed by
supervisor.
S. Strips all soil and finished base material per orientation guidelines.
T. Scrubs floors and removes soil per orientation guid! elines.
U. Inspects and utilizes judgment in determining which cleaning techniques outlined in orientation
guidelines to follow.
V. Identifies types of soiling and/or spotting and utilizes proper solutions as outlined in
departmental employee handbook with no documented incidents of misuse.
W. Handles chemicals and solutions per departmental employee handbook.
X. Ensures that all chemicals and solutions are in properly labeled containers at all times.
Y. Other duties may be assigned.
Z. Maintains responsibility of attendance and punctuality.
AA. Reports to work on time and/or is ready to report at change of shift 100% of the time.
BB. Plans for special days off in advance and gives notice to supervisor per department
guidelines.
CC. Requests vacation time in advance per department protocol.
DD. Provides adequate notice to supervisory personnel due to absence; calls one hour prior to
beginning of shift 100% of the time.!
EE. Maintains proper attendance requirement per department policy.!
FF. C omplies with federal, state, and local legal requirements and maintains operations by
adhering to requirements, following policies, procedures, rules and regulations; and
reporting needed changes.
GG. Maintains customer confidence and protects the integrity of the organization by respecting
customer privacy; keeping information confidential; and securing information.
HH. In addition to the duties listed above, the Environmental Services Tech II will also:
1. Routinely clean specialty areas including ED, Radiology, OR, Outpatient Surgery, and
Labor and Delivery.

2. Perform advanced floor care duties including:
a. Strip floors.
b. Refinish floors to glossy appearance per orientation guidelines.
c. Buff/burnish floors with 16/20” high-speed rotor and/or 2500 RPM burnisher.
d. Shampoo carpets with 16/20” rotor.
e. Extract carpets with extractor.
f. Remove spots from carpets and shampoos, per orie! ntation guidelines, as
required.
g. Observe and patch damaged carpeting as required.
h. Analyze floor or carpet conditions and determine proper cleaning techniques, per
department guidelines.
i. Clean floors and carpets appropriately to maintain proper appearance, with no
incidents of damage noted from using incorrect solutions or procedures.
