San Bernardino County is recruiting nationally for a dynamic, innovative, and highly experienced human resources professional to manage the day-to-day activities of the Human Resources Department. The new Director will be comfortable and thrive in a large, full-service organization with more than 26,000 employees. The Director will be responsible for a budget of $40 million and a team of about 287 full time employees. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), or his designee, the Director of Human Resources will be an experienced leader prepared to engage quickly, thoughtfully, and effectively to assess the fluctuating business environment and the necessary strategies to support ongoing direction from the Board of Supervisors and CEO.This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced and self-directed human resource professional who exemplifies the highest standards and implements best practices.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in public, business, or human resources administration, industrial relations, psychology, or a related field. A graduate degree is preferred.
Experience: Five years of professional human resources experience, plus at least three years of senior management experience in a unionized environment for a large full-service public agency (county, city, or state agency).
Certifications: Although not required, certifications that demonstrate a high degree of expertise and proficiency, including SPHR certification, are preferred.
Salary for the Director of Human Resources is up to $274,310 (DOQ) effective July 15, 2023, with anticipated 3% annual salary increases in February 2024 and 2025. Further details are available through Ralph Andersen & Associates.
