Job Requirements:
- Graduate of accredited Surgical Assistant Scho! ol or program required and must meet all the requirements and be an active member of the NSAA.
- Certification as a Surgical Assistant required or obtained within 6 months of date of hire.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Position requires on call status and employees must be on hospital premises within 30 minutes.
- Two years Surgical Assistant experience preferred.
The Surgical Assistant provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. The Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) works as a 1 st or 2 nd assistant to the surgeon and under the direction and supervision of that surgeon may perform specific significant surgical tasks. The CSA works in accordance with hospital policy and appropriate laws and regulations. CSA m! ust be capable of assisting in a variety of surgery specialtie! s including, but not limited to: General; Orthopedic; Neurosurgery; Spinal surgery; Otolaryngology; OB/GYN; GU; Cardiac; Thoracic; Vascular; Trauma; Plastic; and Ophthalmologic surgery.
