POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the collection of all financial data as it relates to maintaining and reducing the accounts receivables. Contacts insurance companies, verifies and obtains pre-certifications for scheduled and non-scheduled surgeries and admissions. Ensures that all scheduled outpatient diagnostic testing is authorized according to insurance requirements. Performs patient interviews on all self-pay and non-authorized procedures, focusing efforts on reimbursement and qualification of the various assistance programs available. Ensures that payment options are processed according to policies and procedures. Assists all walk-in patients with billing issues, and follows-up to ensure customer satisfaction. Per! forms pre-registrations on all patient types, ensuring that ac! curate demographic information is recorded.
Job Requirements
1. High School Graduate or equivalent
2. Efficient typing skills of at least 40wpm
3. Keyboarding and computer skills
4. Basic Math skills
5. Outstanding Customer Service skills; must have previously worked 1 year with the public
6. Must demonstrate excellent telephone etiquette and excellent communication & interpersonal skills
7. Must be able to work under considerable stress, using tact and diplomacy
8. Must demonstrate the ability to work independently, problem solve, and be able to resolve conflict
9. Demonstrates organizational skills
10. Experience in a healthcare setting required
11. Must demonstrate an understanding of collection processes and charity & assistance programs
12. Medical Terminology Certificate preferred
13. Working knowledge of ICD-9 coding preferred
14. Wor! king knowledge of medical insurance required
15. Maintains working knowledge of office equipment (ie: telephone head-sets, fax machines, voice mail, printers, etc)
