Further informations about this job opportunity kindly see the descriptions. The Inova Heart and Vascular Institute is seeking a full-time Cardiac Care Clinical Nurse Specialist. Monday through Friday. Eight hour days, times vary. Some occas! ional weekend shifts.
This position will work in conjunction with several cardiac care units including the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, the Cardiovascular Step-down Unit, and the Cardiac Telemetry Unit. This is an exciting opportunity to implement evidenced based practice and serve as a clinical expert in the cardiac surgery/cardiovascular disease patient population from critical illness to discharge in one of the nation’s most recognized cardiac programs. We are seeking a dynamic individual who can influence nursing practice from novice to expert in the cardiac care arena. Patients admitted to the Heart and Vascular Institute include, but are not limited to, post cardiac surgery, post vascular surgery, heart failure requiring invasive cardiac monitoring, and other medical or surgical diagnosis requiring intense and continuous monitoring.

A sample of these patients includes: Coronary Artery Bypass GraftingHeart TransplantLung TransplantHeart and Lung TransplantHeart Failure Ventricular Assist Device Implantation and ManagementCardiogenic ShockIntra Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)Minimally Invasive valve replacementMAZE procedure-Surgical intervention for Atrial FibrillationContinuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)Therapeutic Hypothermia post cardiac arrestThrombolytic Therapy related to Vascular Emergencies Clinical Practice and Care Coordination- Implements evidenced based practice and research for cardiac patient population. Incorporates clinical leadership with staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes from a holistic perspective.
Serves as a clinical expert in the cardiac patient population. Guides and develops standards for clinical practice. Teamwork/Leadership- Consistently incorporates a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care to enhance! patient outcomes for the cardiac patient population. Recognizes the contributions of all team members and implements practice protocols with an interdisciplinary approach.
Quality/Best Practice- Incorporates evidenced based practice into cardiac care standards and protocols. Leads efforts to improve patient outcomes through the education and implementation of research based protocols. Professional Development- Demonstrates clinical leadership by serving as a role model for life-long learning and advocating for optimal patient outcomes through evidenced based clinical practice.
