The Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Small Animal Surgery Ward Technician. This position provides technical support to clinical faculty and senior veterinary students in the medical and surgical sections of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, including ward and treatment room management, administering treatments and medications ordered by clinical faculty, and animal care administration/management. Special nursing care may include special diagnostic procedures, and infection control/isolation management. Supports Operating Room procedures, provides Central Sterile Supply support, and assists in other areas directed by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Successful candidate must have working knowledge of basic companion animal anatomy and physiology as a result of coursework or experience; previous experience in a veterinary clinical setting; ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to handle and restrain all species of animals; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; must be able to safely move and handle up to 50 lbs.; rabies prophylaxis will be required (provided by employer).
Preferred Qualifications
Licensed or Licensed eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Veterinary Technician (LVT).
