Job Summary:
This position will be responsible to control patient flow for physician, obtain and document patient vitals, assistaing in multiple in-office procedures. The incumbent in this position will support the mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives of Mary Washington Healthcare.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Responsible for assisting in multiple, in-office procedures. Responsible for specific provider protocols, room set-up and tear down in an efficient manor.

Ensures equipment is in working order. Skill in identifying equipment problems and corrections and/or notifying supervisor.

Completes inventory of both medical/surgical supplies and products. Submits order to supervisor on bi-weekly bases to ensure rooms, patients, provider and flow of office are efficient.

Per provider guidance and instructions, operates BLU-U light for patients. Documents detailed notes per patient care/provider guidelines.

Responsible for pre-authorization of procedures with insurance companies based upon provider guidance and patient need. Follows' up with patients on response, logs authorization number in electronic practice management system and schedules procedure based upon time/need.

Schedules drug representative in-services for product samples, educational and patient advancements for both Dermatology and Plastic Surgery.

Schedules and organizes surgeries, wound care involvement, garments and post operative appointments if necessary with appropriate vendors or entities.

Responsible for sterilization of instruments and organization of surgical rooms for upcoming procedures bases upon providers lay out.

Responsible for entering and following up with patients/pharmacies on prescriptions put through electronic E-prescribe database.

Responsible for specimen accumulation, completed lab requisition, biopsy log and specimen delivery to Laboratory on a daily basis.

Responsible for follow up with patients/provider on status and ensure provider knows "frozen section" results upon Pathologist immediate report. Follows instructions from providers based upon results of test performed and examination of results to instruct patients accordingly. .

Responsible for knowledge of online log and chart/prescription details of Accutane's mandatory study guidelines to communicate/organize with provider and patient.

Involved in the beginning of all patient assessment s, completes necessary chart notes for provider while examination is occurring.

Responsible for all office notes forwarding to patients referring provider, as applicable.

Responsible for PQRI data, follow through and updating the provider and office staff to ensure skin cancer/breast cancer patients are seen within the CMS guidelines.

Responsible for biopsy and Melanoma log of patients, updating tracking records for office and Laboratory while following up on examinations per discretion of provider.

Responsible for refrigerator log and temperature controls of cosmetic products and samples.

Responsible for multi-phone line calls and responses to patient questions/concerns within specific guidelines.

Triage patients as appropriate. Follows discretion and lead from charge Licensed Practical Nurse and providers.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED required.

Medical certification required

Atleast 1-3 years of CMA experience required.

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform biopsies and procedures including body mechanics and patient movement. Skill in positioning patients properly for provider's examination and/or procedures.

Knowledge of laser equipment including safety hazards common laser equipment/supplies.

Knowledgeable of Dermatology and/or Plastic Surgery procedures or surgeries.

Knowledge of cosmetic products, sales and product ingredients.
