LEAD ARBORIST


 

If you have your Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or Urban Forestry and two years of related experience, we encourage you to apply for the position of Lead Arborist.

Job Summary: Under general direction, the County's Land Disturbing Activities Ordinance and Codes are administered and enforced. You will review site development plans for compliance with state and county ordinances regarding land disturbance, trees, buffers, landscapes and soil erosion control, including approval or denial of plans, site inspection, and enforcement measures when necessary. You will inspect the planting of trees, landscapes and buffers, grading finished lots and ensure water quality best management practices. You will confirm ADA compliance with sidewalks, handicap ramps, and crossings. You are responsible for planning and directing tree pruning, removal and maintenance activities on County-owned properties. You will assist in developing, revising and updating County ordinances regarding land disturbance, trees, buffers, landscapes and soil erosion control. You will advise engineers, architects, other professionals and the general public on professional tree care, maintenance and urban forestry issues. Before issuing Certificates of Occupancy, you will perform site inspections for all commercial, industrial, single and multi-family residential developments. Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Forestry, or related field is required; supplemented by two (2) years of experience in site inspection, code enforcement, landscape design, tree care or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain the following certifications: State of Georgia Registered Forester, International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist, Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission Level II Certified Plan Reviewer, and a valid driver's license.
