Mary Washington Hospital, in Fredericksburg, Virginia is currently seeking a full-time clinical perfusionist. Ideal candidates will have ! a BS degree with at least 2-3 years experience. However, new graduates are encouraged to apply. ABCP certification or certification eligible is also required. Responsibilities include cardiopulmonary bypass for approximately 300 cardiac surgery procedures annually, non-cardiac autotransfusion, platelet sequestration, and Impella VAD. Out-of-hospital call will be shared among 3.5 staff. Fredericksburg is centrally located 50 miles south of our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., and north of the state capital, Richmond, Virginia. Job Summary:
The Cardiovascular Perfusionist conducts extracorporeal circulation and ensures the safe management of physiologic functions during any medical procedure in which it is necessary to artificially support or temporarily replace a patient's circulatory or respiratory functions, such as in open heart sur! gery or other heart procedures.

The incumbent in this! position will support the mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives of MediCorp Health System and must demonstrate a commitment to quality service to patients, physicians, associates and the public.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities (include percentage of time spent on each):

Support the Cardiovascular team during medical procedures by

Selecting appropriate equipment and techniques to be used during procedures, in consultation with the physician

Administering blood products, medications and controlling the temperature of patients during surgery.

Monitoring equipment during surgical procedures, making adjustments as needed to ensure proper blood pressure and flow during the surgery

Purchasing equipment and supplies as necessary

Participating in quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required

Graduate of an accredited perfusion program require! d

Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) preferred

Ability to work effectively in emergency situations and under stress

Ability to work cooperatively / collaboratively as part of a team, developing productive working relationships with diverse groups of people

2 years of experience strongly preferred, but will consider new grads

Caseload is approximately 300 heart surgeries per year

Provide non-cardiac autotransfusion

Applicant would be one of 3.5 FTEs on staff.
