The Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services-Calgary Zone and University of Calgary, Section of Orthopaedic Surgery invite applications for a fellowship trained Orthopaedic! Oncology Surgeon.
Qualifications include an MD or equivalent, an active Fellowship in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) in Orthopaedic Surgery with additional fellowship training in Musculoskeletal Oncology, and eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta. It is expected that the successful candidate will have a significant academic interest in teaching and research in addition to clinical practice.
A clinical focus in all aspects of musculoskeletal oncology care is required including treatment of metastatic bone disease and paediatric musculoskeletal sarcomas. The practice would occur at the Foothills Medical Centre, Alberta Childrenâs Hospital and Tom Baker Cancer Centre. The candidate will participate in an orthopaedic call schedule through the Foothills Medical Centre.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate and play a leading role in Research, either basic science or clinical. An advan! ced degree and proven publication record would be an asset.
The successful individual will act as a preceptor for students, clinical clerks, and residents and support undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate teaching. Participation in committees with clinical, educational, research or other mandates is required.
The successful individual will have an appointment with the University of Calgary, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Section of Orthopaedics. The successful candidate may become cross appointed with the Section of Surgical Oncology.
