The VA Medical Center of Salem, Virginia is located adjacent to Roanoke which has natural beauty and many summit features such as: the Roanoke Star and its overlook of the Roanoke Valley, the Mill Mountain Zoo, and many outdoor pursuits such as the Appalachian Trail and the Blue Ridge Parkway which run through this area.
The primary care team located at the Staunton Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) practices and coordinates patients' care with support of Pharm D, social worker, dietician, integrated mental health professionals, and a broad range of medical surgical and mental health specialists either on site or by telemetry. VA uses a state of the art electronic medical record that contains all clinical information related to VAMC outpatient and inpatient care and remote data from other VA and DOD sites.

Position Title: Physician at the Staunton CBOC

DUTIES :
Provides patient centered primary care medical services to male and female veterans in collaboration with dedicated RN and LPN support.
Manages chronic conditions.
Evaluates and treats intercurrent medical conditions.
Screens for onset of new health related conditions
Collaborates with other Primary Care teams and providers when needed.
Practices and coordinates patients' care with support of Pharm. D, social workers, dieticians, integrated mental health professionals, and a broad range of medical, surgical, and mental health specialists either on site or by telemetry.
Uses state of the art electronic medical record systems that contain all clinical information related to VAMC outpatient and inpatient care and remote data from other VA and DOD sites.
Performs occasional minor office procedures common to general internal medicine and family practice skills.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

U.S. Citizenship Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
