Performs a variety of patient care and unit support functions under the supervision of Medical Center professionals. EDUCATION: High School Graduate or Equivalent. EXPERIENCE: 3 years. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Must be a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) with 3 yrs of experience and must meet one of the following 3 qualifications: 1) Successful completion of the CATEC Advanced CNA/PCT course or 2) EMT-B or above certification with 3 yrs EMT experience or 3) Documented proof of at least 1 yr of experience in a PCT role from an outside institution. *Candidate must successfully complete a written exam prior to employment as a PCT and must successfully demonstrate clinical skills during 6 mo probationary period.* Employment in this job is conditioned upon satisfactory completion of a criminal background check and drug test. BLS certification required within 60 days of hire.

Acute Care Pediatrics is a 35 bed unit located on the 7th floor of the University of Virginia Health System. We care for children 0-21 years of age requiring acute medical and surgical care. The unit serves children with a wide array of illnesses and provides specialized care in cardiology, oncology, hematology, pediatric surgery, general medicine, orthopedics, ENT and pulmonary. Within the 35 beds, there are 23 private beds, negative airflow isolation rooms, Epilepsy monitored beds and Telemetry monitored beds. The unit is operational 24 hours per 7 days per week. Care for our children is based upon a Family Centered Care Model. This allows for one parent to be with their child 24 hours per day. Nursing staff is committed to providing family centered, age appropriate and innovative patient care through the assessment, diagnosis, planning, treatment and evaluation, and education of patients from admission to discharge.

Salary Range: 11.41- $17.70 hourly
