This executive will report to the President of Sales and is a key member of the senior management tea! m and will be responsible for the development and execution of all sales strategies and activities. An integral component of this responsibility will be to attract and develop a "can-do" sales organization, making the necessary promotions, hires and organizational changes required while maintaining optimal morale and momentum.

This individual will be expected to take a hands-on, fully-involved approach in the field, being an integral influencer with Spine Surgeons and industry thought leaders. The Area Vice President of Sales will also integrate market feedback to ensure on going marketing and development plans are optimized around market needs, and will be responsible for forecasting and achieving sales targets.

The Area Vice President is responsible for the sales of NuVasive, Maximum Access Systems and the sales forecast within the region by performing the following duties.

Responsible for all aspects of the sales function. Act as a key influenc! er in the field with limited ”management behind a desk" and ! significant field face-time with the Customer base.

Responsible for managing, planning, and execution of a universally understood and adopted revenue plan which ensures company financial objectives are met or overachieved.

Continuous focus on hiring, training and positioning talent for optimal revenue and EBITDA results.

Determine compensation eligibility, including commission plans, for all sales and field support personnel; review on a regular basis for effectiveness/applicability/business appropriateness.

Develop sales forecast; work closely with marketing on an ongoing basis to ensure that expectations are clearly defined.

Accountable for guiding and handling all sales and company progression operations

Keep up to date on what the opponents of the company are doing, and also be aware of costs, settlement, and distribution

Create and apply techniques for company sales force development

Drive NuVasive! success of its client relationships

Develop key client connections and apply techniques for growing the business’s usage.

Provide regular weekly and timely feedback to the Global President of Sales on a variety of topics including sales performance, market feedback, new target accounts, ideas regarding sales growth, sales management and distributor sales rep evaluations, and new product development opportunities.

Build relationships with leading spine surgeons.

Accelerate revenue and market penetration of NuVasive products.

Develop the area spine sales forecast/expense budget as part of the business plan.

Responsible for the development and planning of the area sales organization and its activities.

Responsible for the achievement of area quarterly and yearly sales objectives.

Interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; motivating, rewa! rding and disciplining employees.

Determine department budget ! needs through the development of a strategic and tactical sales plan; review and update as required on a quarterly and annual basis.

Develop standards, processes, and metrics to evaluate performance and measure productivity and ROI.

Manage directors in the development of business and revenue to plan including: territory analysis, market opportunity, 30-60-90 objectives, call pattern and frequency, surgeon/hospital penetration strategies, surgeon case funnel by product and required resources to execute plan.

Work with marketing personnel to determine downstream needs for sales support including product literature, comparative data, competitive analysis, lead generation, ongoing publication strategies, and product and business model innovation.

In conjunction with the marketing department, build a network of relationships with key opinion leading surgeons.

Maintain strong communication and support relationship between sales team, c! orporate headquarters and surgeons.

Required Skills

Required Experience

8-10 Years in Medical Devices executive experience preferably in Spine technology

Proficient and accurate with word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), charting, flow charting, and graphs. Competency in navigating the Internet.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions form groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Ability calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to solve, and interpret problems, collect data, establish fac! ts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive varie! ty of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstracts and/or concrete variables.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

This job involves frequent travel.
